Sydney Hosts Largest Sleaze Ball Ever
Sydney - Almost 20,00 revellers partied the night away in what organisers say was the biggest and best Sleaze Ball ever.
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Association said the 16th Annual Sleaze Ball on October 4 attracted more participants in costume this year, vying for A$1,000 (Baht 27,000) prize money in the three categories of female, male and group.
Some partygoers, however, have complained in the letters pages of the city's gay press that the party was "too straight" with the Mardi Gras "selling out" in order to boost ticket sales.
The Sleaze Ball is an annual costume ball which raises funds for the month-long Mardi Gras Festival in February.
This year's theme of Atlantis inspired a stunning array of sea creatures to swim up from the depths.
Among the shipwrecked sailors, merry mermen and packs of dykey sharks were some amazing humanoid hybrids complete with gills, fins and tentacles.
