New Bars Welcoming Imbibers in the City of Angels

Pink Ink is happy to report the opening of several new pubs.

The first, located on Soi 4 opposite Telephone, is called Balcony, and it's shaping up to be a fine addition to the Soi 4 scene. Make your way there for inexpensive drinks, cute waiters and friendly service. You can also have a look at their web page which is located at http://www.balconypub.com

While at Balcony, be sure to pay a visit to the downstairs restroom facilities where you can (among other things, of course) leave your calling card on their very own chalk board. Sanuk!

Balcony recently began offering member cards to regulars, allowing for 10 percent off purchases. Stuart says Balcony has a happy hour from 7pm to 10pm from Sunday through to Thursday inclusive. All drinks are at a special "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" rate.

We got this in the mail concerning another pub called Sanctuary Bar: Please include my new bar in the next updates of your gay information pages. You can find all the details of the bar at: http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/Stonewall/7436/

Thank you for your help, Pom

For the convenience of readers, we scooped Pom's directions to his bar from his web site and they are: To get to the Sanctuary Bar, leave the Malaysia Hotel on Soi Ngam Duphli and almost directly opposite is a 7/11 store on the corner of Soi Ngam Duphli and Soi Sribumphen. Walk up Soi Sribumphen about 200 meters until you reach the Kenny Guest House where there is a turning off to the right.

Go down to the end of that small lane by the Kenny Guest House and The Sanctuary Bar is at the end on the right.

If you can't follow the above directions, please call me on: Bangkok (02) 2871670 or call my mobile phone on 01-3023020 or page me on 1500 #865251.

Further afield, over Pattaya way, the new spot is called Od's Spot and they have a web page at http://www.rainbow.net.au/~gardens/odspot.htm Their address: Od's Spot, 103/14 Soi 15, South Pattaya, Phone: (01) 940 - 7823, email: gardens@rainbow.net.au.

Od's Spot says they are a "Coffee lounge and bar, friendly relaxed place for a drink or coffee, read a book or magazine or just relax. Open from early in the day till early in the morning every day."

A new organization was recently founded in the town of Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia. Named IKAOOS (Ikatan Orang-orang Sehati - Association of People of the Same Heart), its contact address is: IKAOOS, Jalan Empu Nala 875, Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia, GAYa NUSANTARA, gayanusa@ilga.org

We also got another email about old and rare Asian books. We'd like you to know--for a possible link--that we are a resource for old and rare books about Thailand and Asia generally. We have many links. Please see ASIAN RARE BOOKS' web site http://www.erols.com/arbs/

Speaking of Web sites and such, be sure to check out Sphinx at http://www.sphinxpub.com and Albury Men's Club at http://www.alburyclub.com

Dreaded Ned's reports that "Barbiery, a veteran of the go-go scene here, has closed its doors, though rumour has it that a new Barbiery may open soon with new management and staff! Meanwhile Bar Beer Boys has opened where Superman used to be in Patpong Soi 1, with lots of new dancers and shows every night, and further up Silom, Up2 Bar has opened above Khrua Silom." See www.dreadedned.com for complete details!
